About us

CORMAC Consultancy is a Division of CORMAC, a company wholly owned by Cornwall Council with over 1,500 staff. We love the natural and built environment and are privileged to live and work in Cornwall and the South West. We are passionate about the role that designing infrastructure plays in connecting people, enhancing and protecting our environment, unlocking opportunities to improve the economic viability of our region and shaping the communities we live in.

The Consultancy has a team of over 115 design engineers, geologists, transport and environmental professionals who, with their diverse disciplines and different perspectives, work together to make a sustainable, lasting impact on people's lives. CORMAC design and construction teams have been nominated for and won a number of industry awards which reflects the commitment and passion we put into our work.

At the heart of the CORMAC Consultancy is the enthusiasm, integrity and capability of its people where every individual makes a difference. We know that attracting, developing and retaining talented professionals is key to meeting the needs of our customers and future challenges. To ensure we retain skills in Cornwall and develop new talent, we support profession based training of all areas of our work.

We undertake schemes ranging from smaller community schemes, such as drainage improvements, traffic calming and structural maintenance through to large, strategic transportation schemes, including new roads and bridges, public transport facilities, and environmental enhancements.

We have a wealth of experience in transport scheme appraisal, traffic management, road safety engineering, highway, structural and geotechnical design and we excel in creating and maintaining the infrastructure around us that we depend on every day.

Our teams have made significant contributions to the success of some strategically important highway schemes in Cornwall including the design of the A30(T) Temple to Higher Carblake Improvement (Project Value £60m); design and construct of the A391 Carluddon Improvement (Project Value £11m); the Truro Eastern District Centre including Park & Ride facility (Project Value £17m); Jubilee Pool refurbishment (Project Value £3m)etc.

Cornwall Council has recently been successful in obtaining DfT funding for the St Austell to A30(T) Link Road; and CORMAC, on behalf of Cornwall Council, are currently undertaking the detailed design for this scheme (Project Value £85m). We are also supporting Cornwall Council's Growth Programmes for housing, infrastructure and environmental enhancements. These Programmes have a 4 year implementation timetable, but will bring other associated works for up to 10 years from implementation.

Closing date is 20th September.
