Technician - Easton College, Full Time, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

£19,270 - £20,686 per annum



Technician - City College Norwich, 29.6 hours per week (4 days), 52 weeks per year

£15,416 - £16,548 per annum

City College Norwich is currently recruiting Technicians to expand its highly skilled team supporting learning across the institution that now comprises of multiple skills.

We are looking for individuals who have good experience within the construction provision, specifically bricklaying and other wet trades at both the Norwich Site (Ipswich Road) and Easton College Site (Bawburgh Road).

Whilst primarily working within the Construction area, successful applicants will be required to work in a range of roles, supporting other curriculum areas and events as necessary.

Technician work is varied and follows the changing needs of the curriculum, but a successful applicant would certainly be responsible for the following aspects.

  • Maintaining practical workshops and equipment
  • Designing and building plumbing/electrical work boards
  • Ordering and stocktaking supplies and equipment
  • Preparing workshops and materials for sessions
  • Workplace Health and Safety including writing COSHH and Risk Assessments
  • Correct and safe disposal of waste materials
  • Control of equipment loans and booking materials out to students
  • Support for College open events, projects, competitions and shows


A background in construction is desirable with relevant update to date health and safety qualifications/training (i.e. Health and Safety in the Workplace; Manual Handling; First Aid at Work; Working at Height; etc.), or a willingness to undertake and achieve within 2 years however the greater part of the role is about being organised, smooth running of the workshop and efficiently controlling the orders and equipment in order to support students and staff, and in turn, curriculum delivery.

Applicants should have knowledge of the building service industry, materials, methods and equipment. Preferably applicants will hold a Level 2 qualification in Brickwork or have industry experience construction industry or be willing to undertake such a qualification, or train to satisfy the needs of the role.

You will work closely with exceptional lecturers and will support staff from several courses within the college. You will be line managed by one of our two Technician Team Leaders, who look after Technicians and Technical Supervisors that work across a wide range of curriculum including Science, Sport & Leisure, Health & Care, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality & Catering, the Arts, Engineering, and Construction. You may be involved in exciting projects on campus, county-wide or nationally, and there will be opportunities for the right applicant to develop their skills.
