As a well known technical authority in the field of rotating electrical machines and as a leading Electrical Contractor in both LV and HV, demonstrating significant proficiency within the M&E arena both Nationally and internationally.
This role will be based at our client site The Culham Centre for Fusion Energy JET. The site is the central research facility of the European fusion program and it is the largest and most successful fusion experiment in the world, working towards a carbon free energy source for future generations.
This role is a permanent role, duties will include planned and reactive maintenance and Breakdown cover for the Flywheel generators and pulsed power supplies For the JET experiment.
The successful candidate should have a good mechanical or Electro/mechanical background ideally having served an apprenticeship in a relevant industry Experience of rotating machinery and associated auxiliary systems, including motors, pumps, interlock systems, hydraulics and switch gear is ideal.
Throughout the year there are two distinct work patterns.
Operational: this is when the experiment is taking place and the plant is running and shutdown periods which can be planned maintenance periods or shutdown due to break down of equipment.
Operational weeks Monday to Friday working alternate weeks.
(with occasional Saturday operations)
Morning shift: 06.30 to 14.45 hours
Afternoon shift: 14.30 to 22.45 hours
Maintenance: if required is carried out on an extended day shift on Saturdays from 06.30 to 16.30 hours
Shutdown Weeks, Monday to Friday
07.30 to 17.30 hours which include a paid 30 min lunch break.
