This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of principal advisor of governance and corporate and charity law whilst contributing to the formulation of strategy and policy at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG).

About the role:

In this pivotal role, reporting to the Executive Director of Membership and Global, you will provide expert advice and support on all corporate and charity governance as well as statutory and legislative compliance matters. You will ensure the College has robust systems of corporate governance, ensuring their effective operation in line with our Charter, RCOG regulations and the relevant legal and statutory frameworks.

As our legal and governance lead, you will be instrumental in the delivery of the College's governance, assisting in the development and implementation of the risk management & assurance strategy along with systems and processes which will underpin the effective integrated governance system.

An experienced leader, you will develop and promote a proactive risk management culture across the organisation.

Requirements:

As the ideal candidate, you will have:
  • Experience and detailed knowledge of advising and supporting a broad range of legal matters
  • Experience of complaints management
  • Experience working at a senior level appropriate to this job description
  • Solid experience of board and committee secretariat duties
  • Strong understanding of Assurance and Risk Management principles and how they apply within a corporate context
