A city school in Leicester are looking to appoint Academic Achievement mentors to support students catch-up on lost education at the start of this academic year.
The role of an academic mentor is to work in conjunction with the class teachers to provide 1:1 and small group learning for students that have missed education at KS3 and GCSE level. With access to school resources and schemes of work you will tailor learning materials to the needs of the students whilst providing a safe, progressive and individualized learning environment for students in your care.
Academic mentors also support in the full class environment as and when needed to reduce low level disruption in the classroom and ensure students remain on track and focused in collaboration with the full class teacher.
To be successful in this role you will be a empathic, resilient individual who is eager to work in a mainstream secondary schools with students aged 11-18. You will have a drive to achieve positive learning outcomes through supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and unlocking their potential to flourish in their education. Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year experience in education either paid or as a volunteer supporting vulnerable and hard to reach students. (evidenced by CV)
- Have a current (or be willing to obtain) an up to date safeguarding certificate in line with statutory regulations (KCSIE)
- Be able to provide two reference from previous employment (1 of which must be most recent)
- Educated to Degree level - (Psychology, English, Maths, Science are desirable but not essential)
