The Company:

Our client is a UK manufacturer of specialist hospital beds and the only independent provider of bed management services to the NHS, managing over 20% of the UK's acute bed and mattress fleet. They supply specialist products and services to over 150 hospitals in the UK and Ireland.

The organisation has established a strong reputation for the supply of a range of innovative products in the specialist beds and surfaces sector, both manufactured by themselves and also sourced via exclusive partnerships with manufacturers across Europe and the US.

Our client is now looking for a Service Technician to join them on a temporary basis and help provide high-quality medical products to customers across Leyland, Preston and Chorley.

The Benefits:

- Salary of £18,000 pro rata (DOE)
- Reward and recognition programme
- Gain experience with a family-oriented business
- 22 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays (pro rata)

This is the ideal role for a confident person with a great customer focus to embark upon a rewarding contract dealing with medical devices.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide caregivers with the products and knowledge they need to deliver an exceptional service to patients.

Our client prides themselves on the quality of their team and believe that their people are what makes them great. They offer a high level of support, as well as learning and development opportunities, to ensure their employees are able to succeed.

The Role:

As a Service Technician, you'll be tasked with delivering an effective and timely maintenance service to customers.

Specifically, you will undertake planned preventative maintenance, repairs, field modifications, and support at delivery stage to customers who have purchased a product.

Dealing with customers based across Leyland, Preston and Chorley, you will:

- Maintain stock and parts inventory
- Implement product modifications
- Deliver and install clean, ready to use products
- Collect faulty, failing or dirty products
- Clean, test and repair products
- Complete records of safety testing
- Provide demonstrations and basic training to caregivers

As part of your role, you will be required to take part in an on-call rota.

About You:

To be considered as a Service Technician, you will need:

- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic knowledge of hygiene and safety rules
- Basic PC skills including email and MS Office
- A full driving licence with the confidence to drive long wheelbase vans
- A DBS check (or the willingness to complete one)
- A proactive, 'can-do' attitude

Knowledge of OEM products would be beneficial to your application, as would a mechanical or electrical background, but this is not essential as training will be provided. Experience within a hospital or caregiving environment would also be an advantage, as would an electrical safety testing qualification certificate.

Other organisations may call this role Electrical Technician, Mechanical Technician, Service Technician, Field Service Technician, Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Operative, Trainee Service Technician, or Junior Service Technician.

Our client is a medical devices service provider with strict and stringent infection control measures in place as standard. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they have increased their measures to protect staff members and their patients/colleagues.

As standard throughout this period of time, our client has introduced mandatory strict social distancing measures, the wearing of surgical face masks in all service centre and caregiving environments and strict cleaning regimes right across the business. They also have their own internal COVID testing programme for all staff to ensure the ongoing safety of all colleagues, which supports our client's measures and demonstrates these are working to protect everyone.
