St Piers School sits in the Education Directorate of Young Epilepsy, the leading national charity working exclusively to improve the lives of children and young people with epilepsy and associated conditions. We are a non-maintained residential special school for 5-19 year olds. We are an innovative and creative school for children with SEND and a large percentage of our cohort have Epilepsy, autism and severe learning difficulties, along with communication difficulties. The school provides a variety of interactive and inclusive environments, both indoors and outdoors, which support the pursuit of ambitions and aspirations through a whole range of exciting and creative spaces. All children are put at the heart of their learning experience, through providing an environment where everyone can make progress and gain new skills. The School is 'Good' [Ofsted 2017], a Centre of Excellence [IQM] for inclusion  and is a member of Challenge Partners [Quality Assurance Review (2019) judged 'outstanding'].
About the Role
We are seeking a personable and confident leader to support the Principal and Governing Body, providing professional leadership for the School, driving success and improvement through the implementation of St Piers Quality Improvement Strategy, and championing outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. You will be responsible for the direct line-management of extended leadership team colleagues, and the day-to-day operational management of the whole staff team, thus leading overall educational effectiveness.
You will have qualified teacher status, with experience of teaching a range of SEND pupils. A track record of overseeing successful school improvement initiatives is essential, including experience of monitoring, evaluating and improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning. You will be adept at building and sustaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders, and be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and challenging situations.
