Learning Support Assistant
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Connaught Education is partnered with an independent school based in Oxfordshire that caters to pupils aged 11- 18 with high functioning autism.
The school offers a specialist environment for these pupils with tailored individual support. The position of a Learning Support Assistant in this setting varies, but typically you will be assisting the Teacher during lessons and working with groups of students to plan activities.
The successful LSA should be able to demonstrate knowledge of working with pupils with special educational needs, particularly working with pupils on the autism spectrum.
You will be working with pupils who are on the autism spectrum (ASD) and will be within a certain age-phase development department. Senior Learning Support Assistants will also be given additional responsibilities, these include being involved in assessment, planning, recording, monitoring, supporting other members of the team, teaching procedures and also induction training of new staff.
The LSA will be expected to have the knowledge and a demonstrated understanding of ASD and this partnered with the National Curriculum.
LSA's will be involved in the day-to-day planning and delivery of the Curriculum. You will be working under the direction of the teacher to support pupils to achieve targets.
Learning Support Assistants help maintain accurate Records of Achievement for all pupils and act as a 'Link Worker' for certain students, providing updated information with carer's and parents.
Undertake in-house training and external training if needed.Applications for this post are being handled by Hayley Logue at Connaught Education. If you would like to be considered for this post, please send your CV through to
