The Home Library is a multi-channel retailer of inspirational and imaginative decorative lighting, sofas, chairs, curtains, wallcoverings and accessories for the home. We are currently looking to recruit a Retail team member for our flagship store in Wilmslow. If you are a hands on and customer service-oriented individual with a responsible and enthusiastic attitude, then we want to hear from you. A minimum of 2 years proven experience within a customer facing role is essential, preferably within the interiors sector.

Team colleagues are expected to fully participate in all aspects of the store operation from front end counter sales to warehousing, stock management and compliance. A great customer experience is important to us; our service, as delivered by you and your team, combined with availability of products encourages customer loyalty and ensuring continued business growth.

Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Greet customers and ensure every customer has an exceptional customer service experience every time
  • Provide informative advice and guidance on product selection and product performance to customers, ensuring familiarity with product range and appropriate technical details
  • Answer customer sales queries and questions positively
  • Responsibility for processing cash and card payments
  • Deal with customer complaints positively and promptly within company guidelines and escalate where appropriate
  • Responsibility for goods in and external deliveries. Checking deliveries against despatch notes and POs and informing the Store Manager of any discrepancies
  • Deal effectively with a range of administrative tasks as required
  • Assist with in-store visual merchandising, responsible for the building and installation of products (after completion of the technical competency course) and maintenance of showroom
  • Stock the Retail space with merchandise as appropriate on a daily basis and ensure products are labelled correctly
  • Ensure all retail displays are kept in a clean and attractive condition. Keep the store tidy and clean, this includes hovering, mopping and dusting
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for customers and colleagues in compliance with all company policies and legislative requirements. Participate in and promote the welfare, motivation and performance of the retail team
  • Assist in the development and delivery of store activities to generate consumer interest and drive sales. Contribute to marketing activity and sales data collection
  • Participate in training and learning events as required to ensure the continued development of skills, product awareness and knowledge and to ensure safe working practices are operated
  • From time to time any other reasonable duties as may be reasonably requested by the Line Manager
  • The position carries the responsibility for carrying out all duties to the required standard as indicated by the Store Manager and Retail Director and professional codes of conduct and regulations

The successful candidate for this role will possess:
  • The ability to work in a safe manner and consider the safety of others
  • Due to the nature of our products, this position will involve regular manual lifting (manual handling training will be provided)
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Customer facing role, preferably within the interiors sector
  • Be self-motivated, hard working with a hands on approach in a high paced environment
  • Good organisational skills and a proactive team player
  • Strong numeracy and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of IT systems and computers
  • Able to work weekends and Bank Holidays on rotation

All training will be provided but we require someone who displays keen initiative and who is willing to learn.
