Global Purchasing Manager

£55,000 to £65,000 +Benefits

We are currently working exclusively with an established, privately owned North West based manufacturing business to source and select an experienced Global Purchasing Manager to join their Supply Chain team.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Director you will work within the global procurement organisation to ensure materials, equipment and services are sourced and procured in line with the company purchasing policy and quality requirements, whilst ensuring best value is achieved.

Key Accountabilities will include:

Create a global sourcing strategy working within the global procurement team that is then executed
Develop a savings pipeline for the organisation
Craft negotiation strategies and supplier relationships to close deals in line with short, medium and long-term goals.
Assess, manage, and mitigate risks
Provide cost information and purchasing trend analysis. Participate in purchasing improvement projects, including site Capex projects when appropriate.
Provide a savings plan that is incorporated into the budget and then acted upon to reach or exceed the budget plan
Responsible for ensuring our payment terms are in line with the working capital targets
Provide integral information to the business via market intelligence to influence decisions made through the S&OP process
Lead the development and implementation of global & site purchasing policies, objectives, and targets based on business requirements.
Develop & maintain strategic supplier relationships.
Assist Production and engineering in negotiating & maintaining selected contracts.
Co-ordinate and manage specific Purchasing activities (procurement, review and creation of purchasing specifications, negotiation, warranties and claims on suppliers).
Accountable for the "Source to Pay" process for the site organisation.
Monitor & improve supplier performance, communicate ranking with suppliers to enable continuous improvement
Track and report key metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Develop a category buying matrix and provide support to category owners
Maintain and develop purchasing specifications
Establish the operational site procurement resource needs

Qualification and Experience Requirements:

CIPS Qualified with at least 5 years' experience within a senior global purchasing role within a fast-paced manufacturing business.
Experienced in the review and structuring of legal contracts
Proven track record in delivering YoY cost savings
Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to negotiate at all levels both internally and externally
