We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapists to join our Medical and Medicine of the Elderly Physiotherapy Teams at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh during our winter staffing initiative. We are the main acute / emergency admitting hospital for Edinburgh and the Lothians, and this gives all staff experience of contributing to the care and treatment of a broad range of patient presentations as a key member of our dynamic multidisciplinary teams.

Candidates must display a particular interest of clinical work in Acute / General Medical, and Medicine of the Elderly specialities. You should also have experience in areas such as Respiratory, Orthopaedics, Stroke, and Neurology. Ability to effectively and efficiently prioritise and discharge plan is essential, as is clarity of communication and well-demonstrated organisational skills. Experience of supervision, mentorship and appraisal of other staff members / students is ideal.

You will have supervisory responsibility for band 5 and non-registered staff members. Our teams currently include band 2 to 7 staff. There is a regular weekend and overnight on-call commitment, with this area of working being fully supported through a robust orientation programme.

Physiotherapy Services actively supports staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities. You will have the opportunity to assist with these processes through leading in-service and other clinical development activities, and will be key in the production of the winter service report. This report will help shape future physiotherapy service developments.

The range of conditions and specialities encountered, requirement for excellence in clinical reasoning and team working in this post at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a band 6 physiotherapist.
