This role is inside IR35 scope

The requirement is to enhance the existing piping team, to allow further development and growth.

Day to day activities will include:-

Lead functional input to own projects, including where relevant leading the input of other engineers, to ensure engineering delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality
Carry out engineering calculations and check the work of more junior staff to delivery a quality functional input to projects
Work along side the current Piping Leads, to delivery designs from concept to detail (and often site support).
Ensure the design is carried out in a diligent and professional manner.
Be able to lead small to medium packages of engineering design for piping systems.
Work along side and support designers and apprentices, and mentor other team members.
Liaise with other engineering disciplines.
Prepare for and attend design assurance reviews as required.
Be prepared to assist in the growth of the department.
Review Client specifications / documentation
Assist / produce design estimates for the delivery of projects, and manage changeExperience required:

Experience working on the THORP Facility highly advantageous
Be able to lead small to medium packages of engineering design for piping systems.
Proficient with checking and approval process of piping deliverables.
Be able to develop 2D (and 3D, but not essential) plant layouts.
Self supporting / driven.
Minimum HNC/BTEC.
Competent in the use of 2D and 3D computer aided drafting packages.
Knowledge of relevant drawing standards ie BS8888.
Knowledge of relevant design standards (ASME B31.3).
Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in Piping Design.
Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in the Nuclear Industry.
Knowledge and experience of the SL design process. (Preferred)
Knowledge and experience of SL standards. (Preferred)
Demonstrate competency with the development of pipe support arrangements, and tie into stress analysis where required.
Awareness of Designer Role and CDM regulatory requirements.
