2 ER Advisors needed to work as part of an organisation change project for a minimum of 3 months. Immediate start and remote working is supported, however, you must live within the Midlands to allow for essential office attendance.

Role Purpose

* The role is key in the implementation of the Employee Relations (ER) Strategy and as part of a small, dedicated and high performing team will help develop interventions that will increase people management capability within the business by providing remote support, tailored solutions and actively supporting managers on complex case management
* Responsible for providing an outstanding proactive, commercially focused and tailored ER and Change advice and support to the stakeholders within your remit; to develop strong stakeholder relationships to ensure proactive management of concerns, utilising data and insights to ensure appropriate management of case work and escalations


* Contribute to the development of standardised Policies, processes, toolkits and training materials and work with managers and employees to attain consistency and
* Identify trends and work with the ER Team on solutions as necessary
* In conjunction with Learning & Development produce training materials and deliver ER and Change training to managers to bolster capability in our managers for ER and Change processes and employment legislation

Remote Case Support

* Act as the first point of contact and steer stakeholders through correct procedure and company best practice, advising at all stages and ensuring that all discussions and actions are progressed in a timely manner; advice should be legally compliant, commercially focused and balanced with the Company values
* Manage own caseload of ER and Change matters within remit from inception to completion; provide advice on issues around HR Policy and procedures, complex T&Cs, employee relations and change management matters working closely with our HR Business Partners and key stakeholders on high risk and complex cases

* Offer appropriate solutions and escalate complex or serious issues to the designated HR Business Partner and within the ER & Change Management team when required
* Ensure active participation in ER Rota - providing excellent remote advice in support of the business and the ER Team; ensuring all queries are dealt with in a consistent, timely (in line with SLA's/ Commitments) and professional manner
* Proactively manage the coordination and administration of case load including any related correspondence, provide all supporting documentation to Managers in readiness for discussions /meetings with colleagues and support/produce invite and outcome letters as required ensuring personnel files are accurate and up to date
Tailored Face to Face Coaching & Support

* Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholder groups to encourage the application of ER best practice
* Through coaching and influence, bring managers and colleagues to the best solution of employment related issues; provide options and highlight any risks when required
* Participate in high risk cases as a coach to the 'hearing' manager and as a note-taker to mitigate risk where possible

* Ensure performance against applicable SLA's/ Team Commitments, understand the levers that contribute to the delivery of the SLA's/ Commitments for the ER team and contribute as an individual and team member to meeting and exceeding the standard required
* Liaise with external parties as requested, including off site meetings and visits when needed
* Work with wider ER team to ensure cross collaboration and peer review of advice when needed
* Manage escalations to HR Business Partners working closely with them to mitigate further escalations
* Maintain an up to date knowledge of employment legislation and understand how this may impact on company processes and policies
* Actively build internal and external networks to maintain up to date knowledge, have a great understanding of best practice and readily share ideas with the team, always seeking opportunities to continuously improve both the ER & Change function and the wider business
* Alert the ER & Strategic Change Manager to any areas of non-compliance and/or associated risks to the business
* Undertake and/or contribute to projects as required by the Employee Relations & Strategic Change Manager which support the delivery of the ER Strategy.
* Undertake any other duties in line with the basic objectives of this role as required
Experience and Qualifications

* Broad and in depth understanding and application of UK employment legislation; how employment law is created and used to build people practices
* Understand what collective employment law and collective bargaining is
* Experience of managing a challenging ER and Change case load on a wide range of issues in a multi-site business
* Excellent organisation skills with the ability to meet tight conflicting deadlines and manage own workload
* Strong communication skills, ability to tailor temperament and adapt in order to influence at all levels in a business including at a senior management level
* Ability to work on own initiative to solve a range of problems that may arise in the workplace
* Sound judgement - the ability to deliver pragmatic solutions is key
* Ability to work to your own initiative and with confidence
* Have provided guidance and coaching via telephone, email, and in person to line managers
* Able to build relationships quickly, influence stakeholders and push back when required
* Full UK Driving License
* CIPD qualified or working towards, or a relevant qualification in Employment Law
* Management of the end to end process in an employment tribunal
* Experience of operating in a unionised environment
* Coaching experience
