Orion Group are delighted to be working with a longstanding client in Central London who is a UK wide Oil and Gas business. A temporary opportunity has come up for a deal handler who will look at gas trading and report to other members of the finance team. The role will initially be 6 months and you will be based in the London Paddington office.
Your core responsibility will be to support the back Office control function within the deal cycle for gas trading.
What is involved:
Ensure that trades entered into with external counter parties and Trading Exchanges are recorded correctly in the internal system
Add details accurately and timely to ensure P&L reporting, financial regulatory reporting and settlements can be carried out
High focus on financial (SOX) and regulatory compliance
Counter party confirmations
Daily reconciliation of Trading Exchanges & Brokers
Daily Trade Validation in the trading system (checking Trader Deal Sheet against external platforms/Brokers)
Liaise with Traders/Brokers and internal departments
Support on settlements tasks and other Operations, Contracts & Deal Handling tasks
Experience required for the role:
Experience of Office 365, Windows 10, SAP, Endur (Other systems knowledge would be helpful)
Previous experience in energy (or financial) trading environment
Strong Excel (financial Excel- pivot tables and macro knowledge beneficial)
Have knowledge of and a desire to learn more about the energy trading industry. This includes the different types of trade and the different requirements associated to each trade type.
