Specialist Support Assistant - Braille - West Brompton, South West London

Full time 39 weeks per year (term time) - Fixed term contract depending upon specific student's continual attendance within the provision.

Salary: Scale 3 - point 5 to 6 (£17,606 to £17924)

The Company:

Our client is a provider of education for children and young people with Sensory Impairment.

The Role:

This post is based within a mainstream setting in West Brompton. The post holder will be working closely with a year 7 student with no vision, who accesses the national curriculum via Braille. .

Role Responsibilities:

Ensure the child develops their 'learning to access skills'
Help teachers within the school to create an inclusive environment that allows this student to reach their full potential
Ensure the lesson content and materials are made accessible in tactile format (including Braille)
Ensure the student is safe within practical subjects eg PE, Science or Design and Technology
Child's independent is promoted through daily practice of their habilitation targets
To keep abreast of continuously evolving technology in relation to visual impairment.

Qualifications / Skills required:

Grade 2 Braille OR have a willingness to learn and develop these skills on a continuous basis.
