Job Description

Purpose of the post - LSBU Employment are currently recruiting high quality supply teachers to work in a school in Southwark on a day-to-day supply basis to cover planned and unplanned staff absences, often at short notice.

Main activities and responsibilities

Role Responsibility:

- Teach classes at all times

- Contribute to the provision of a safe, secure learning environment

- Supply appropriate planning materials, following school plans where provided

- Support the use of support staff relevant to the class

- Mark work for pupils (Only if cover exceeds more than one day)

- Maintain a professional standard of dress and behaviour

- Implement and maintain the discipline and behaviour policy of the school

- Carry out any reasonable requests from the head teacher during your bookings i.e. lunchtime duties, parent's evenings, exam invigilation

- Carry out the duties of the 'regular' teacher as much as possible i.e. covering form classes,

taking class registers, attending school assemblies, enforcing school rules.

- Observe school policy and ethos during your bookings

To LSBU Employment:

- Call regularly to update your availability

- Submit timesheets on candidate portal every week in time for it to be approved by assigned manager (Must be approved by Monday 11am at the very latest) confirming days worked in the previous week so your pay can be processed

- Update your consultant with regards to any changes in your personal details

- Update your consultant if you are unable to attend a booking or if you are going to be late to arrive at a booking

- Keep up to date on educational changes, developments and initiatives that affect your

specialist subject area through attending agency CPD courses, forums and personal study

Essential Skills & Qualifications

- Previous teaching or teaching assisting experience

- Effective verbal and written communication

- Strong classroom and behaviour management techniques

- Ability to influence others positively

- Ability to react quickly and effectively in challenging situations

- Ability to relate and build relationships easily

- You will hold qualified teacher status (QTS)

All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid and up to date enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
