Our client produces specialist bespoke niche products to multiple sectors, components for varied applications across industries, manufacturing services and solutions within the sub-contract market. Reporting to the MD, the successful applicant will be responsible for the management and development of a small diverse team across Design, Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering ensuring product integrity and effective solutions. The role is principally to ensure that new products are designed correctly, seamlessly introduced to manufacture and subsequently to the customer, achieving 100% satisfaction. This position is pivotal in terms of driving the New Product Introduction programme across all product lines at what is an exciting time in the company's strategic development.
Leading a team across sites, the NPI Engineering Manager will be the main point of contact from product's inception through to market introduction and Continuous Improvement. You will prioritise allocating human and material resources for individual bespoke designs ensuring they are of the highest quality and completed on schedule. Working closely with the commercial team to ensure that products meet with the client's requirement, you will be responsible for Project Management and supplying technical and analytical support across Design, Production, Assembly, Product Testing and Service.
Educated to degree level/HND or equivalent within Electro-Mechanical/Mechanical/Materials or Science related discipline, you will have a strong appreciation of the Principals of Engineering, Design for Manufacture, having led a technical team operating in a rapid NPI programme which adheres to World Class principles and measures.
A naturally inquisitive person and problem solver, you will understand root cause analysis in depth, be analytical offering well-honed Project Management skills. Well versed in Lean and CI principals, ideally having worked in a precision engineering or machine shop environment employing, milling, turning and grinding processes. With a background in designing electro-mechanical products, using CAD, you will be innovative and able to lead from the front, motivating and mentoring individuals and teams.
You will be a strong communicator and possess the skills to influence change and introduce new approaches in line with the company vision to improve. As part of the SMT, you can employ new methods of working and be instrumental in changing the culture of the organisation.
