Our client is a leader within their industry and are currently looking for a temporary one month Payroll Assistant to work with them from the end of September.

Days: Monday to Friday

Hours: 08:30 to 16:45

Payroll Processing

* Processing monthly payroll, including RTI submissions to HMRC

* Processing SMP, SSP, pension and other deductions

* Processing the payrolls and pensions and ensuring all the processes are correctly adhered to

* Setting up starters and leavers and processing necessary returns (P46/P45)

* Administering any pay increases or other financial changes to employees

* Processing year-end returns (P60)

* Maintaining high levels of confidentiality and security of employee data and sensitive information

Service Provision

* Responding to queries and questions relating to payroll and employee benefits

* Liaising with staff and HMRC to resolve all payroll queries promptly and professionally, making any adjustments as necessary

Continuous Improvement

* Continuously review and improve all processes and working practices to ensure efficiency and effectiveness

* Amend any relevant financial processes in line with any changes to legislation, reporting requirements etc

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

* Prior experience in a finance / payroll role is essential - You must have working knowledge of payroll legislations including, SMP, SSP, Parental Leave, Court Orders etc

* Full start to finish payroll experience including payroll reconciliations and journals

* Ability to do manual calculations as and when necessary

* Educated to A-Level or equivalent standard is essential, with strong grades in English and Maths.

Skills

* Highly IT literate - confident user of Outlook, intermediate Excel (e.g. pivot tables and formulae)

* Highly organised and methodical, with a proven track record of delivering high quality work to expectations, and on time

* The ability to take responsibility and use own initiative to resolve problems and issues or escalate as appropriate and provide support to their resolution

* High attention to detail and levels of accuracy

* Be a motivated individual and able to work alone or as part of a team

* Ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritise tasks and adapt to changes in deadlines and requirements
