This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team in a leading Advice Agency. We are looking for a committed, creative and innovative new CEO to lead the organisation through a period of intense change.

Role info:

Chief Executive Officer
Central Reading/Working from home
Permanent / 28 – 35 hours per week (0.8 to 1.0 FTE)
£40,000 – £45,000 FTE (dependent on experience)
Start Date : As soon after selection as possible

Citizens Advice Reading is a large and busy town centre Advice Centre which delivers a range of advice services, funded by local and national contracts. It works in partnership with a range of stakeholders, including:

+ Reading Borough Council
+ National Citizens Advice
+ The Reading Advice Network
+ Macmillan Cancer Support
+ The Henry Smith Foundation

This is a challenging time for the organisation, in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic and in a difficult financial climate. The Covid-19 crisis is leading us radically to reshape our service delivery model, to ensure that our services are accessible to the people who need them most, whilst we remain sustainable.

For us to achieve this, the successful applicant will need to be a creative, innovative leader, comfortable with change and ambiguity, skilled at managing limited resources, able to build strong and influential relationships with key partners, have a deep understanding of how to develop and sustain a high quality volunteer service, and be fully committed to the aims and principles of Citizens Advice.

If you are looking for a role where you can make a difference to the lives of people in real need in Reading, have experience of leading a sizeable team, delivering a range of services in a customer or client focused environment, and working closely with a number of key partners, this post could be for you.

Key skills we're looking for:

+ Understanding, and be committed to, the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Service
+ Have extensive leadership and people management experience
+ Understand how to develop and sustain a high quality volunteer service
+ Be an excellent communicator face-to-face with individuals and larger groups, write clearly and succinctly, and be able to communicate well across social media
+ Be able to show they can set and deliver a vision, through strategic business development plans, and manage the organisational change required
+ Understand equality and diversity best practice, and know what the law requires of organisations in this area
+ Have excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to motivate colleagues, delegate effectively, and build good working relationships with key partner organisations
+ Be able to show they have managed significant budgets and ensured effective financial control
+ Be able to work on their own initiative, prioritise work, handle pressure and take decisions
