The facility performs cutting edge research into the structure and properties of materials at an atomic and molecular level. Within this department the ISIS User Programme Software group plays an integral role in maintaining and producing the software required to support the scientific activities in the laboratory.

About the role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to provide excellent first line software support to our customers and project support to our software project managers. The role will be based in a small supportive ISIS software development team at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, near Oxford. Much of the software is web-based and we also use SharePoint. You will work alongside software engineers and report to a senior software engineer. Some key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of issues relating to applications. Assist with specified maintenance procedures

About you

You will be qualified to GCSE level, or equivalent, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have experience in using Microsoft Office programs and have an enthusiasm for computers and computing. We are looking for someone with previous experience in a customer facing role, with the ability to work under pressure whilst still maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. You will have a proactive approach to finding solutions and be a fast learner with interest in developing new skills.
