Assistant Advisor - Environment

Are you passionate about farming and its contribution to the environment?

Can you work effectively within a team to help influence policies related to farming and the environment?

Assistant Advisor Responsibilities:

We are looking for a talented and dedicated individual with an understanding of environmental or agricultural policy who can assist in work with (and for) farmers on policy matters at the top of the environmental agenda.

You will assist in discussions and negotiations and prepare responses to policy and legislative proposals ahead of briefing our policy team, the NFU's Environment Forum and Officeholders.

To achieve this, your keen eye for detail and the ability to synthesise complex information will set you apart from others.

To secure the best outcome for NFU members, you will be an effective communicator, influencer and networker who can empathise with those in the farming industry.

Assistant Advisor Requirements:

A HND or degree in Agriculture or a related subject would be essential, as is having the understanding of the farming industry and the associated environmental agendas at national and EU levels.

You will be comfortable at building strong internal relationships with both colleagues and external stakeholders and have the ability to communicate effectively. An ability to deliver accurate information within set timescales is also important. As a key team player, you will have the ability and enthusiasm to manage a diverse and challenging workload whilst remaining calm and organised under pressure.

The National Farmers' Union is the voice of British farming, and our members are at the heart of what we do. On their behalf we lobby government and other stakeholders, develop policy and provide a range of frontline services.

Location: Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth

Job type: Full Time, Permanent, 35 hours per week

Salary: circa £22,600 per annum
