An established farm in Mid-Down is looking to appoint a Senior Herdsperson / Farm Manager to join them on a full time basis.
This is either a graduate level post or suitable for someone with a proven track record of dairy herd management. Candidates should be flexible and adaptable with dairy experience. This is a 'hands-on' job for candidates who can work as part of a team but also operate autonomously while the owner is away.
You will be responsible for the following:
Milking, feeding and day to day husbandry of the herd Attending to the health and welfare of the livestock Helping with the management of young stock Undertaking basic machinery tasks e.g. sow fertiliser, use telehandler etc. Making day to day decisions e.g. planning daily workload Grassland management Supervisory duties in absence of owner and working alongside existing staff Data recording, particularly for Quality Assurance Schemes Dairy farm health i.e. vaccinations Undertaking all duties within health and safety regulations Other reasonable duties if required Hours of work:
50 to 60 hours a week. Weekend work rostered. 30 minutes for breakfast if on early shift and 30 minutes for lunch.
An attractive remuneration package will reflect the 50/60 hours a week required to fulfil the duties of this post. Willingness to work weekends, cover out of hours and flexibility are essential. Accommodation can be provided if required.
