Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Our Client is an established manufacturing company based in Ashton-Under-Lyne.
Due to continued progression and growth, our Client is looking to recruit an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their busy team in their site in Ashton-under-Lyne.
They are looking for self-motivated individuals who can conduct themselves in a professional and positive manner at all times.
Main Role/Function of an Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Statement setting out what the role is there to achieve)
To carry out condition monitoring, preventative maintenance and repair work on manufacturing plant and equipment to ensure that production targets can be efficiently reached while paying due regard to safety, quality, hygiene, completion times and cost.
Main Activities/Duties of an Electrical Maintenance Engineer
To ensure resources at your disposal are utilised and managed effectively.
Ensure tools are maintained in a good, clean condition and are stored safely when not in use.
Ensure spare items that are removed from Stores are signed out, ensuring that they are accounted for and replaced.
To support the manufacturing unit to achieve the objectives of the Company.
When faced with multiple tasks, to liaise with Line Teams and Line Supervisors to ensure that their needs and priorities are respected.
Establish and maintain effective communication to promote close working relationships within the manufacturing and engineering unit.
Ensure the accurate flow of information to the right place at the right time.
Ensure information is collected during your shift and that the handover between shifts is conducted effectively.
Training & Development
To undergo and commit to all training as and when required to support your ongoing professional development.
Support the Company in the implementation and management of effective cost control measures to eliminate waste and reduce overheads.
When sourcing spare parts pay due regard to cost.
To ensure all plant and equipment sustains the capability to manufacture products which adhere to both Company and customer specifications.
In the performance of your duties to ensure that the microbiological, chemical and physical risks to food safety are controlled.
Sustain good personal hygiene standards and abide by good housekeeping practices in production areas and the engineering workshop.
Proactively suggest engineering solutions that may improve manufacturing efficiencies.
Assist the Line teams and/or Project Team with their improvement plans.
To implement Preventative Maintenance and assist the owner of specified maintenance duties by the operational line teams.
To complete PPM work as required, re-scheduling as needed due to line operational times
To assist in improving the PPM schedules as required
Repairs and Renewal
To provide speedy support to Line Teams or other Departments when there is a problem.
To communicate the cause of any problem, what has been done to rectify it, and give advice on the procedures that need to be put in place to prevent a reoccurrence.
To ensure that machine settings are configured to enable production to proceed at optimum efficiency.
To carry out efficient machine 'changeovers' whenever there is a switch in production requiring set-up changes.
Health and Safety
Ensure that working practices safeguard the health and safety of all employees and visitors.
Through setting a good example and confronting unsatisfactory behaviour, help create a culture for an injury-free workplace.
Ensure all machines and equipment are well maintained so as not to pose a risk to health and safety.
Report any potential health and safety risk to the Health and Safety Manager.
Measurable Outcomes (consider each of the activities/tasks/duties listed and identify how the business will measure your achievements)
* Safety Audit score of >90% for the Dept.
* Annual absence Rate of * Hygiene Audit score of >85%
* Dept. spending within budget limits
* Engineering production downtime * Abs Efficiency Line 3 > 85%, Line 1 > 85% Line 2 > 75%
Levels of Responsibility (list those areas where you have specific responsibility)
Responsibility for ensuring that all machinery and equipment is well maintained electrically is safe and able to produce efficiently. Responsibility for ensuring other electrical services e.g. lighting is operating effectively.
Aptitude/Skills Required (list any specific aptitudes or skills/qualifications etc that are needed for this role)
A recognised electrical qualification, preferably including IEE 17th Edition Regulations, backed up by relevant experience.
Some knowledge of PLC's an advantage.

Working hours/days: 6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm or Nights (10pm - 6am) - Rotating shifts depending upon when needed.
The role is to cover absence/holidays or work on plant and equipment on day pattern.
Must be able to support weekend working as well ( Overtime) as part of the roster.
