We're currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work for our client, a thriving manufacturing/engineering company in North Manchester.
Owing to tenders won, they are seeking to add to their commercial team.

The Client
At the forefront of their industry sector, our client works with a variety of blue-chip clients globally, delivering a specific engineering solution to many and varied industries including nuclear, defence & security, offshore, petrochemical, rail, aerospace etc.
They are the leading company within this sector, with the biggest portfolio of products and have been in business for over 100 years, working with some of the most prestigious clients in their fields.

The Role

Your initial project would be to work on a prestigious rail contract, set to last until next summer and although you would report to the Commercial Manager, you would have sole commercial responsibility for this particular venture.

Ideally familiar with NEC Contracts, you will carry out a range of standard commercial duties as follows;
Providing month end reports, including cash flow forecasts etc.
Preparing and submitting monthly cost value reconciliations and cash/ spend profiles. Attending contract review meetings
Measuring, submitting and agreeing variations, loss & expenses and/or compensation events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate prompt agreement of final accounts
Monitoring on-site record keeping. Preparing and issuing notices in accordance with contractual provisions
Assisting the Finance Department in securing payment of invoices and/or applications for payment

There may be an element of travel to site with this role, so any candidate should be prepared to potentially spend 1 night per week away in London.

The Candidate

You should ideally be qualified to degree standard with over 10 years of commercial experience.
Experience in the manufacturing engineering sector, particularly in the steel works industry, is desirable; alternatively or additionally, commercial experience within the construction sector is also of interest.
You should have excellent IT skills and be familiar with the relevant software needed to complete your work.
You should be a confident negotiator and be able to produce risk assessments to aid the successful financial completion of projects.
You should have experience working on large projects.
