The role

As a Digital Insight Lead you will support the Head of Digital to drive a continuous improvement of customer experience on the Homebase website through utilising web analytics tools such as; Google Analytics. You will provide an insight and understanding of the customer experience, their shopping behaviour and how it changes as our digital proposition evolves, identifying opportunities for optimising revenue per visit and driving incremental sales

What will I be doing?
  • Key focus of the role will be day-to-day insight and analysis, creating and maintaining GA reports using data studio as well as ad-hoc project support with the aim to facilitate data-based decision making
  • Champion and communicate a greater understanding of digital insights across the business, collaborating with stakeholders from across Digital, Marketing and IT to ensure evidence-based decision making leading to maximised revenue per visit
  • Proactively identify improvements in online customer journeys highlighting value driving opportunities through insightful analysis using existing tools: Google Analytics (GA), Hitwise, AudienceView & GlobalData and participating in user testing
  • Lead the deep dive analysis of priority projects and events, generating and presenting recommendations to key stakeholders ensuring continuous improvement across digital trading, marketing & development activities
  • Support Digital Trading and Marketing teams with shaping future-plans and understanding return generated by digital marketing channels
  • Liaise with Marketing Insight team to ensure joined up, holistic analysis
  • Work with IT & digital marketing to ensure accuracy of GA data and reporting
  • Improve existing digital reporting to help the business understand its strengths & weaknesses

What I need to be successful:
  • Experience in a similar role, working in an e-commerce environment with evidence of supporting web teams
  • Confident user of Google Analytics, Microsoft Excel and comfortable to use new third-party data management tools (Hitwise, AudienceView & GlobalData - training can be provided)
  • Knowledge of basic digital and social media trends and strategies
  • Experience working for / on projects related to retail brands
  • Analytically minded; continuously striving to recognise and highlight trends in data
  • Confident communication skills; being able to present data-supported recommendations
  • Confident in contributing ideas and working in a collaborative fashion with colleagues and external agencies
  • Demonstrable decision-making ability, knowing when to escalate issues
  • In tune with current digital and social media trends/strategies: honing- desirable not essential
