We are recruiting for a Charity Retail Development Manager in the West Wales Area.

Detailed below are the skills we desire and the key elements of this role:

This is a Part time position working 3 days per week.


• Experience in the charity retail sector

• Up to date knowledge of retail Gift Aid systems in a shop environment

• Good administration and office skills with the ability to prioritise tasks

• Good interpersonal skills and enjoy working with people

• Staff training and management experience

• Experience of volunteer management and volunteer recruitment

• Understanding of GDPR and Health & Safety issues in a charity retail environment

• Self-motivated, methodical and able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines

• The ability to nurture and develop a volunteer team


• Responsible to your charity line manager

• Initially to set up and oversee the GA function in the 2 West Wales shops.

• Liaise with the charity retail Gift Aid back office administrator based in Devon. Train the local shop managers and volunteers in the 2 West Wales shops in GA routines. Routinely oversee the GA function in the West Wales shops and be the point of contact for help and support to the charity shop staff and volunteers locally.

• Cover the Shop Managers' weekly days off, annual and sick leave and provide day to day operational support where needed at both West Wales shops

• Oversee rotas for the managers at both West Wales shops in order to arrange cover for absences and shortage of volunteer cover.

• Develop new ideas and initiatives to encourage new volunteers to become involved; either volunteering in our shop, or helping with cat welfare volunteering in the local community

• Review and advise how to create the right atmosphere that welcomes supporters and encourages shoppers to visit our shops. Look at ways that our shops can promote the work of our charity and that we present a welcoming 'shop window' for the charity locally.

• Explore the possibilities of increasing shop donations from local businesses and members of the public

• Manage and record the induction of new shop volunteers at both shops according to GDPR

• Oversee and regularly review the rotation, quality and replenishment of stock donations between the 2 shops to maximise sales.

• Be prepared to travel to attend training opportunities and workshops and cover for both shops.

• Must have access to own transport and be willing to travel
