The Company

Workstream Construction Services is a specialist provider of recruitment, engineering, and site logistics expertise to all sectors of the construction industry. Founded in 1993, Workstream is headquartered just outside of Bicester, Oxfordshire and has a further two offices in London and Sheffield.

Working at Workstream

As a leader in services to the construction industry, Workstream offers an exciting, fast-moving working environment with opportunities for career development. Workstream's rapid growth means we are always on the lookout for additional high quality people to come and work with us. In addition to excellent salaries and working conditions, we offer an attractive package of employee benefits including performance-related bonuses, private health insurance, contributory pension scheme and paid annual leave.

The Role

The role of Financial Manager will be to oversee and develop Workstream's accounts department, covering payroll, credit control, accounts payable and all financial reporting. The role would be ideally suited to an individual looking to take the next step up in their career to the level of financial controller. While the current highly experienced team will carry out the more day to day administrative tasks, you'll be tasked with the smooth running of the company's financial department and your daily to-do list will feature some or all of the following - reporting to management, producing accounts, monitoring the performance of the department, overseeing all tax and regulatory/compliance issues, contributing to decisions regarding financial strategy.

A strong character will also be required as you will be expected to make difficult financial decisions. You'll need to be comfortable balancing hands-on financial management, and acting as the link between the finance department and other Workstream colleagues, so good communication is essential. Lots of energy and motivation, multi-tasking skills, good understanding of business and financial issues and the ability to work to tight deadlines are traits we are looking for.

Our preferred candidate would have a degree in a related subject such as maths, economics or business, plus applicants who have completed their accountancy qualifications from one of the following bodies would also be considered:
  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)

Working hours are 09:00-17:30, Monday-Friday - plus extra hours when large deadlines are looming. While the role is office based, controllers will spend time in meetings or visiting other departments and clients. There is a competitive package on offer for the successful candidate, dependant on suitability and experience.

The successful applicant will be based at our head office located on a working farm set in a beautiful rural location, in the north Oxfordshire countryside between Bicester and Buckingham.

If this role sounds of interest and you think you fit the bill, please give Tom Alderton a call on or click the Apply link to send us a copy of your CV and covering letter.
