Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable but don't worry if you don't have any formal care background. We can teach you the skills of a good nursing assistant. You will be a compassionate, enthusiastic and confident individual, who is able to provide (following training) the highest standard of patient care, under supervision. You will need to be able to priorities, work under pressure and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will need to be reliable, hardworking and trustworthy. If the above describes you, we welcome you to apply for a full time position 37.5 hours per week on Plum Tree Ward. Plum Tree Ward is a 29 bedded ward which specializes in Gastroenterology and Endocrinology. The wide range of conditions in Gastroenterology we treat includes Crohn's disease, pancreatic cancer, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Alcohol detox, gallstones and stomach tumor. In Endocrinology the conditions include DKA, HHS, Addison's crisis and adrenal insufficiency. Being part of two specialties will enable you to develop your skills and knowledge in both of these exciting areas. We will offer you a structured Induction program during which you will learn more about the Trust and your role. You will be required to complete the National Care Certificate in the first 3 months of employment. You will undertake a literacy and numeracy test on the day of the interview. If the post you have applied for requires a DBS check or you are an existing member of staff transferring to a role which require a DBS or higher level DBS than currently held, you will be charged for the cost of the check. This payment will be deducted from your first months salary. The cost of the check is currently £50 for an enhanced check and £31 for a standard check. For checks after 1st October this will reduce to £44 for an enhanced check and £27 for a standard check. In submitting an application form, you authorise the Trust to confirm any previous NHS service details via the Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) process should you be appointed. This includes a check with the DBS Update Service where registered. Tier 2 applicants working in healthcare will need to provide a criminal record certificate for them and any dependants from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the 10 years prior to their application.
