The Wellbeing Service, Prison Team in Norfolk are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join the Prison Wellbeing Service.

The post will be based at HMP Bure however, some travel will be required to Hellesdon Hospital, and occasionally across the Norfolk cluster of prisons, including HMP Wayland, and HMP Norwich. This post will be Band 5 AfC.

Qualified applicants will hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Therapies.

The Prison Wellbeing Service will provide an equitable service to patients in prison and mirror what is delivered in the community, where possible, but will recognize the culture and systems of the different prisons in designing realistic interventions with achievable outcomes. The service will adopt an integrated approach and develop relationships with the existing health care providers in order to maximize the benefits of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) model.

The successful applicant should have knowledge and experience of working within a busy and challenging environment and working with people who present with a range of common mental health difficulties, including depression and anxiety as a qualified PWP. The successful applicant will work autonomously and provide direct intervention to a defined caseload of service users operating within recognised professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

We are seeking an individual with the knowledge and skills to work as part of a team and be innovative in their approach to supporting this client group. The service is constantly developing, and this role will be extremely challenging. The successful candidate will therefore need to be flexible and provide evidence of reliability, ability to cope in a highly demanding role and demonstrate a high level of organizational skill.

Forensic or secure working environment experience is an advantage but not a requirement. You will work under the supervision of a Psychological Therapist as part of a small team based at HMP Bure, and report directly to the Wellbeing Prison IAPT Lead.

The Trust has now introduced a DBS Update Service which is a contractual requirement. You need to subscribe when you have applied for your DBS clearance and there is a time limit to subscribe of 19 days after receipt of your DBS disclosure. Please ensure that this is completed within the set time scale.

This update service is an annual subscription at a cost of £13 to you. This will enable the Trust to have instant online access to your DBS record, with your consent, and so will remove the need for you to have to apply for this repeat check again.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
