The Operating Theatres at The Royal Free London Trust is an exciting and interesting place to work.

It has rapidly developing services like organ transplantation both liver and kidney, vascular and plastic Hub for tertiary sites and other specialties including paediatrics. The Royal Free theatres are also leading the way with Robotic surgery.

Our facilities combined with the latest in technology and on-site support services enable our consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to complex surgery.

The Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust's Recovery Room is a very busy department/unit. It has a total of 20 bed capacity dispersed across three (3) sites namely Main Recovery Room, Recovery Room 2 and Level 1 Recovery Room. The department is operational throughout the year, 365 days, 24 hours a day, and seven days a week.

The purpose of Recovery Room is to provide the optimal level of care for patients who had surgical intervention and immediately after anaesthetics. The Recovery Room admits post-operative and post-general anaesthetic patients from very busy 19 Main Operating Theatres, Endoscopy Unit and Interventional Radiologic Care Unit (IRCU). The department provides immediate post-operative and post-general anaesthetic services to all surgical speciality except for cardiac and neuro surgeries.
