We are developing our future strategy, which will focus on providing the highest quality mental health and learning disability services.

As part of this, our community (physical health) services in Bury, Oldham, Rochadale (adult services) and Trafford will be moving to a new NHS Provider in 2019. For Bury, Oldham, Rochdale (adult services) this will take place on 1 July 2019.

We have been very proud to run community (physical health) services over the last seven years, but we believe there are other provider organisations better positioned to enable these community services to achieve more for the benefit of local people. We are working closely with our staff and colleagues in the new provider organisations to ensure the smoothest possible transfer.

We are looking for a pharmacist to join the senior clinical pharmacist and pharmacy technician in the Tameside locality mental health team.

The successful applicant will have a keen interest in mental health clinical pharmacy, sound clinical knowledge, previous experience and excellent interpersonal skills. The post will provide a good basis for a future career in mental health pharmacy.

The post will offer rotational clinical pharmacy experience to the inpatient wards in Tameside, the further development of the clinical pharmacy service to the Tameside borough and participation in multidisciplinary ward rounds. The post holder will be working alongside outpatient consultants and staff and patients in the non bed-based services to optimise medication also.

The post holder will also contribute to the work of the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, take part in medicines related clinical audit and provide teaching for nursing and medical staff. They will be supported by the Trust's dedicated team of mental health pharmacists and technicians, receive management and clinical supervision and attend team meetings. The post holder will be expected to occasionally cover the absence of pharmacist colleagues across the Trust's mental health South Division (Stockport / Tameside) and also attend meetings at Trust Headquarters.

There is no requirement for emergency duty, bank holiday or weekend working. The successful applicant will need to have a means of transport to travel around the Trust.

Applicants must be pharmacists registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, have experience of providing secondary care clinical pharmacy services, hold or be working towards a post graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy and have a keen interest in mental health. Pharmacists currently employed at Band 6 in a rotational post and working towards a post-graduate clinical diploma are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be supported to study for the post graduate certificate in psychiatric therapeutics in their turn.

All new starters to Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust who are appointed to a post which requires a Disclosure Barring Certificate check (DBS) will be recharged for the full cost of the check. Substantive staff can choose to spread the cost over their first three months' salary or pay the full amount from their first months' salary. Members to the Trust bank must repay the full amount from their first pay.
