About West Suffolk Hospital & Community Services

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (WSFT) provides hospital and community health care services to the population of west Suffolk and is an associate teaching hospital of the University of Cambridge. We serve a predominantly rural geographical area of roughly 600 square miles with a population of around 280,000.

We work hard to make West Suffolk Hospital and our community services a great place to work. A high performing Trust, our most recent CQC results gave us an overall rating of 'Outstanding' - the highest possible rating. We are very proud to be one of a very few acute trusts in the country, and currently the only one in the east of England, to hold this accolade.

WSFT is developing and promoting an inclusive culture. This means we embrace all people irrespective of, for example, race, religion or belief, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, pregnancy, maternity or disability. We will strive to give equal access and opportunities to all and get rid of discrimination and intolerance. We will do this both as an employer and as a service provider.

We regularly receive positive feedback in NHS staff surveys in a range of key areas, consistently scoring in the top 20% of Trusts nationally against seven criteria:
  • recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive treatment
  • satisfaction with the quality of work and patient care they are able to deliver
  • agreeing their role makes a difference to patients
  • feeling recognised and valued by managers and the organisation
  • satisfaction with the level of responsibility and involvement they are given
  • satisfaction with resourcing and support feeling the organisation takes an interest in and action on health and wellbeing.

When applying for jobs, please ensure you read the advert carefully to identify whether the job you wish to apply for is based at the main hospital or at one of our community locations.

Come and join us and be part of, what we think, is the best hospital in the east of England.
