NSPU is an 8 bedded unit that provides level 1 care for both neurosurgical and spinal post operative patients. We work on a 1 to 4 nurse/patient ratio and receive complex patients following craniotomy, interventional radiology and extensive spinal surgery. We work closely alongside our three neighbouring neuro and spinal wards to deliver an effective pre and post operative pathway for both elective and emergency patients.

We offer the opportunity for staff to rotate between the 3 wards to gain experience in tracheostomy care, care of the patient with the complex spinal cord injury as well as those patients stepped down from level 3 care.

We are one of the busiest regional neurosurgical departments in the country and receive referral from within Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

Working alongside an exceptional team of surgeons and dedicated team of Drs (as seen on the BBC 'Hospital' documentary) as well as our supportive team of nurses specialising in Neuro oncology, Hydrocephalus, Functional surgery as well as Spinal cord injury we aim to deliver an exceptional level of care.

I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
    • Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incurs a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of a DBS check if it is required (by deduction from first month's pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
