Salary : Biomedical Scientist Band 5 (£24,214 - 30,112)

Applications are invited from HCPC registered BMS's, ideally having experience in Clinical Biochemistry and/or Haematology/Blood Transfusion or HCPC pending applicants having completed the IBMS Certificate of Competence. Suitably qualified experienced trainees may also be considered.

The new laboratory, is well equipped with Beckman Coulter DxH 800/600 blood count analysers, IL TOP 500 coagulation analysers, Ortho Vision Transfusion analysers, Roche Cobas 4000's with RSApro preanalytics and a Blood Gas analyser. The department is fully computerised with Telepath LIMS, electronic messaging to GP's, Q-Pulse, Plumtree DART scanning and ward based ICE requesting. The laboratory is fully multidisciplinary, is currently in the process of replacing the majority of its existing analytical equipment and is well supported by a team of medical laboratory assistants.

The department is fully UKAS ISO:15189 accredited and is approved for training by the IBMS. You will be encouraged to participate in CPD and support will be given to those seeking higher qualifications.

After suitable multi-disciplinary training you will be expected to participate in the 24 hour shift rota. This includes night shift, weekend and bank holiday working.
