Role Description:
The Radiologist plays a key leadership role in the organisation and delivery of excellent care to our patients. You will be pivotal in the delivery of high standards of clinical care, client satisfaction and team harmony. This is an important role with a responsibility for providing a radiology service across several disciplines and working with radiography, surgical, medical oncology, interventional radiology, resident, intern, nursing and auxiliary teams.
It is essential that the post holder is driven, motivated, organised and flexible in their approach to their working pattern in order to facilitate the completion of the clinical workflow.
The post holder will also need to be able to mentor and supervise other clinical team members and where necessary use their own expertise and experience to support, educate and guide them in order to provide an exceptional level of care to our patients.

Responsibilities and Tasks:
Leadership and management
To provide efficient advanced diagnostic imaging to support oncology and soft tissue surgery
To ensure the smooth running of an effective radiology service to meet the four outcomes - clinical care, client satisfaction, financial resolution and team harmony
To introduce and develop other radiology services at the practice with the support of senior clinicians and the management team
To work with the wider practice team to contribute your skills, efforts and personal strengths to help ensure a harmonious team ethos at all times
To represent and promote the practice, its aims and values
To hold regular meetings with the Radiography team, ensuring a consistent approach and professional support for all
Active participation in weekly multi - disciplinary senior clinician case discussion meetings
Maintain professional standards in accordance with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) guidelines
Work closely with the floor co-ordinator to facilitate the flow of patients
Assist in the reporting of clinical errors in order to promote a culture of transparency and assist with hospital improvements
Assist with the induction/orientation of all staff to the hospital
Support marketing initiatives and promote our services both within and outside the practice
Welcome and provide support for visiting veterinary surgeons, students and work experience personnel

Evaluation and monitoring of radiology
To be responsible for the continual evaluation of the radiology service within the practice
To maintain and improve efficiency and clinical quality and monitor standards using data, audits and reports
Discuss and resolve service delivery issues at the earliest opportunity and escalate risks appropriately and when necessary
To ensure all IRMER regulations are followed, any breaches reported, and rectification plans implemented

Clinical radiology service
Collaborate with colleagues to develop a team based approach to increasing integration of radiology at the practice
Supporting colleagues in selecting imaging modality
Developing protocols for interventional procedures
Participate in fluoroscopy interventions and examinations under fluoroscopy
Be available for advice out of hours and at weekends

Expanding radiology service
Tele radiology service for Fitzpatrick Referrals Orthopaedic and Neurology (when requested)
Reporting all outpatient MRI/CT scans

Health & safety
To be responsible for radiological health and safety within the clinical areas
Be aware of, and conversant with, the health and safety at work act (1974) and comply with the regulations set down to ensure safety to patients, staff and visitors
Comply with the FR infection prevention and control policy
Ensure all incidents and untoward occurrences are recorded according to hospital policy
Be aware of, and conversant with, the hospital fire policy and be fully aware of the position of fire alarms, emergency equipment and exits

Infection Control
Infection prevention and control is an essential aspect of patient care. All post holders have a personal obligation to act to reduce hospital acquired infections.
Post holders must be familiar with the hospitals'infection control policies, including those that apply to their duties such as the uniform policy.
Post holders must incorporate into their clinical activities up to date evidence that supports safe infection control practices and procedures, for example, the use of aseptic techniques and the safe disposal of sharps.

Confidentiality and Disclosure of Information
During the course of your work, you will come into possession of confidential information concerning patients, their families, Fitzpatrick Referrals Oncology and Soft Tissue Hospital and its staff. This
information should be treated confidentially and in accordance with the data protection act (1998), european regulations,general data protection regulation or 'GDPR' and the new data protection act 2018

The post holder is responsible for ensuring he/she maintains the integrity and quality of both computerised and manual data

In addition to your main duties you will be required to carry out such other duties consistent with your
Position to meet the needs of the Company and as the Company may from time to time require.


Qualifications and Experience
Board eligible Radiologist (e.g. ECVDI or ACVR)
Veterinary degree registrable with the RCVS
Boarded radiologist (e.g. ECVDI or ACVR)
Post-board referral practice experience preferable but not vital
Proven track record of leading, managing, developing and motivating teams
Leadership qualification

Awareness of the operational aspects of a busy clinical environment
Specific experience of diagnostic imaging for complex oncology and soft tissue cases

Permanent contract and full-time hours
Salary range £85,000 to £110,000 per annum commensurate with qualification and experience
