Design & Development Engineer

As a Design & Development Engineer, you will play a key role in the Engineering Department in ensuring that the Company has a range of high quality, technically innovative and commercially competitive products to offer to the market as well as ensuring customer's requirements are met in terms of design and requested delivery dates on bespoke products.

Responsibilities:

* To design and develop new products as required and to project manage from concept through to completion;

* To design and develop enhancements to the existing product range;

* To design products to customers requirements and to project manage through to completion;

* To lead special capital expenditure projects as and when required;

* To source and procure materials for products within the given budget;

* Provide estimated costs for new products/designs and requests from the sales team;

* Provide technical support for customers, which may involve site visits of both a national and international nature;

* The production of, and maintenance of technical documentation as required, including CAD drawings, costing data, technical construction files, design calculations, bills of materials, technical specifications, marketing literature, test data etc.

Experience:

* Educated to Degree / HNC / HND level in Engineering related discipline

* Previous experience working in a similar role, within a demanding and often pressured engineering environment

* Experience working with metals/fabrications

* Computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD, Solidworks & Microsoft Office Packages

Skills:

* Excellent understanding of design and engineering manufacturing procedures

* Planning, project and time management expertise

* Innovative and creative thinking (flair and ability to think outside of the box)

* Quality-oriented

* Ability to lead a team to meet specific project deadlines

* Proficient computer and application skills

Other:

* Valid Full UK Driving Licence

* Expectation to undertake UK and International travel to meet business needs

* Comfortable with some unsocial working hours e.g. when travelling/attending exhibitions etc

* Comfortable spending periods of time away from home when travelling

Benefits:

* Permanent

* Salary DOE

* 39 hrs per week Mon-Thus 08:00-16:30 Friday 08:00-15:30 (INC 30-Min Unpaid break )

* Pension MAN CAT: 5% + 5%

* 28-days / Increase to 33-days by 1-day per year up to 5-years
