Hyperion Insurance Group is looking to recruit a Data Analyst to work within our Howden (Psyon) Division in our Redhill office.

By bringing data analytics together with wellbeing expertise we can help design and manage effective, enduring wellbeing strategies for the benefit of our clients and their employees.

Role Definition

The primary role of Data Analyst is to support Psyon's analytics proposition through comprehensive requirements analysis; detailed and accurate preparation varying data; identification, analysis and interpretation of patterns in complex datasets and creation of compelling and information visualisation that supports decision-making for our clients and intermediary partners. Working alongside our analytics, consulting and reporting specialists within the team, the Data Analyst plays a critical role in our evolving eco-system. The ideal candidate will have a statistical, mathematical or data science-related background, a driven individual looking for the next step in their career, wanting to build on their foundational experience in data analytics to become a true practitioner. They will be confident in working with a variety of data sources as well as effectively communicating to technical and non-technical audiences.

Data Analysts are required to possess a range of finely-tuned data skills (data querying, data manipulation, data verification and visualisation), excellent attention to detail as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will ideally have the following skills:
  • Analytically minded with ability to think critically and reflect upon own approach
  • Passionate for delivering work at a high standard, with a demonstrable attention to detail
  • Dedicated and dependable with a proven track record of taking ownership of work
  • Highly resourceful
  • A strong desire to progress and develop using the learning material provided
  • Previous success in a data-driven role with demonstrable ability in using Excel and/or business intelligence and/or visualisation solutions to at least an intermediate level
  • Strong time management skills and a proven ability to plan work on multiple projects with differing timescales

Knowledge and Experience
  • Educated to degree level or above in a field including mathematical or statistical content or equivalent professional experience
  • Be expert on analytics tools across Psyon's technology stack including Power BI and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to articulate complex ideas, debate them and agree them as part of a team
  • Solid foundational understanding of
  • Relational databases
  • Data quality dimensions
  • Exposure to the following would be highly advantageous:
  • SQL
  • R / Python
  • Power Query (M)
  • Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
