Applications are invited for Clinical Fellow in General Surgery based at Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth. This post is fixed term until August 2020. There will be a requirement to support the Urology Service, working with Mr Mike Aniah, this work will be included in a weekly timetable. MBBS, MBBCH or equivalent medical qualification and full GMC registration are essential for this post. This is a non training post. There are organised core curriculum teaching programmes which the successful candidate will be expected to attend and lunchtime, programmes are available in the Medical Education department. The Postgraduate Department has a fully developed programme of guest lectures, lunchtime and afternoon meetings, including special interest groups and co-ordinated intra-practice activities and career counselling. The library offers a wide ranging book collection, with interlibrary lending network, excellent IT facilities audio-visual and conferencing equipment. Hywel Dda University Health Board provides healthcare services to a total population of around 372,320 throughout Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. It provides Acute, Primary, Community, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities services via General and Community Hospitals, Health Centres, GP's, Dentists, Pharmacists and Optometrists and other sites. It also provides a range of services for people living in south Gwynedd and Powys. Integrated health boards are a key first step in creating a world class NHS in Wales. Primary care and community services are delivered through: 55 GP practices, 51 Dental practices, 100 Community pharmacies, 52 Optometry premises, 8 Community hospitals, 11 Health centres Our in-hospital services are currently delivered through: 4 Hospitals (Bronglais, Glangwili, Prince Philip, Withybush The Health Board is fully committed to supporting employees to achieve an appropriate work life balance. Training and education are central to the function of the Health Board, forming a core element of the Clinical Governance Strategy. Hywel Dda is the prescribed connection for approximately 800 Doctors, with a dedicated Medical Appraisal and Revalidation Lead and Manager, who manages and co-ordinates appraisal and revalidation processes across all sites. There is also a team of 52 trained appraisers to undertake appraisal meetings. Appraisal workshops and training sessions are provided regularly across the Health Board.
