We are creating a brand new role - IT Infrastructure Support located at our Newport head office. Are you interested in monitoring and supporting network infrastructure? Read on to discover more!

An insight into what you'll be doing:

No two days are the same! With the always changing face of technology, you will be responsible for keeping the company running, and with IT across 2 offices, 2 Distribution centres and nearly 100 stores, you will need to be pro-active in your approach and system delivery. Monday could see you updating the firewalls, while Wednesday could see you spinning a bunch of VM's for the data team, and Friday offering support to one of our stores! Just to add an admiration of blinking lights is a must!

A day in life*
  • Ensure all business systems are secure and backed up. Everything must be functioning and fit for purpose.
  • Assist the Team Leader in the management of the network and storage / virtualisation infrastructure.
  • Monitor the core network infrastructure, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Help with the Service Desk during busy periods and leave cover.
  • Act as an escalation point for problematic helpdesk calls.
  • Deploy, maintain and support of all IT systems in stores, offices and the warehouse.
  • Willing to adapt and take on new challenges with a driven desire to continuously improve the infrastructure.
  • Structured and detailed in applying documented requirements.
  • Ability to get things done and improvise as required with a 'can do' attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • In conjunction with external supplier's manage the perimeter security of Stores and Head Office, involving creation of VPN's, administrative and project-based tasks.
  • Some out of hours work as required.
  • Other ad hoc duties.

What we look for in you:
  • MCP / MCSE / MCSA qualified.
  • Strong experience of using Active Directory, Windows Server 2008 / 2012, Exchange 2010 / 2013, SQL Server 2012.
  • Great at keeping on top of things and keeping those balls in the air
  • Fantastic communication skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Amazing people skills
  • Strong security/Firewall/AV knowledge
  • Detailed and technical knowledge of Windows Server and Desktop products
  • Strong understanding of LAN, WAN and communication networks.
  • A desire to improve personal knowledge through continual development
  • Strong ethical working practices in line with our company values
  • Understanding and acceptance of the feeling of others
  • Open and honest communication
  • Ability to follow detail instruction to the letter
