Temporary (ongoing) Finance & Administration Assistant

WendyB Employment are proud to work with The Therapy Garden in Normandy (GU3 2DT - car owner is probably required as it's a bit out of the way) - a horticulture and education charity that uses gardening to support positive change. We work with groups of adults and children with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and mental health challenges and offer school-age teenagers interventional education opportunities.

The Therapy Garden is a vibrant, fun and interesting place to work. We have modern offices, classrooms and kitchens set within 2 acres of beautiful working gardens complete with greenhouses, break out areas, ponds and sensory areas.

We are looking for a knowledgeable Finance Assistant who also has good general administration skills to support Sally, our Centre Manager. Initially this is going to be for 15 hours per week as a Temp but will likely become a permanent 20 hour role. We are happy to consider school hours or 3 - 4 longer days per week.
  • Using Xero accounting system
  • Creating sales invoices
  • Processing and clearing purchase invoices
  • Managing petty cash and weekly banking
  • Tracking income and spending of Restricted Funds' for projects receiving sponsorship and donations from various sources.
  • Raising contracts and invoices for venue hire
  • Obtaining quotation for services & repairs (facilities)
  • In addition to finance you'll be helping to manage the recruitment of volunteers. You'll receive training in all Volunteer recruitment activities but it will require you to have a sociable, outgoing personality
  • Responding to new volunteer enquiries
  • Scheduling meetings, carrying out the required Risk Assessments and processing DBS checks
  • Organising Volunteer rotas
  • Creating Volunteer communications to ensure everyone feels included and remains engaged with the charity.

We understand this is a pretty unique role and we'll offer plenty of training. However we do need applicants to have Finance / Accounts experience gained in previous employment.

Prior to starting this role, we will require the successful candidate to successfully pass a DBS check.
