Cantonese & Mandarin speaking Deputy Manager

You will be responsible for the safe and legal and efficient running of the store working alongside and in the absence of the store manager. This includes assisting in optimising sales and profits, controlling labour budgets and costs, reduce wastage and shrinkage, maintaining product availability, merchandising, cleaning and pest control, health and safety issues, maintenance in the stores, deliveries and dealing with staff issues and coaching staff and maintaining a high level of customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Update and maintain the KPIs actions each week; work in partnership with the Store Manager to consistently deliver good results

• Organise staff, coach and support them on the shop floor, ensure operational routines are completed to the required standards

• Deputise for the Store Manager during periods of holiday and absence and support other stores in the area at the request of Senior Managers and Directors

• Ensure store costs are well controlled and any expenditure improves customer and staff experience

• Prioritise and ensure excellent operational standards

• Plan for the day, week and month ahead to ensure targets are achieved

• Coach and train staff in each department

• Monitor and reduce shrinkage and wastage; encourage staff to do the same

• Ensure staff interaction with customers provide excellent service level and standards

• Have detailed product knowledge to offer an alternative product

• Manage the store schedule to ensure the store is staffed at optimum levels to suit the level of acitivity in the store

• Manage replenishment of products in stores to ensure maximum availability at all times

• Assist in ordering of specific product lines

• Understand the local area customer base so as to ensure specific product availabilty

• Review delivery of store training plan and ensure that staff training is always up to date

• Ensure that Store Diary is fully completed every day and follow up on recommendations from senior managers' store visits

• Ensure faults or repairs to premises and equipment is reported immediately to the Store Manager and Facilities department and logged onto the Company's repair repoprting system

• Work with the Store Manager to recruit the right colleagues to work in the store and ensuring they are well trained by sharing knowledge, skills and experience

• Support colleagues by sharing knowledge with them and acting as a positive role model

• Deal with underperformance and poor attendance in the correct way and ensure staff receive the correct support

• Manage staff performance consistently and fairly

Experience and skills:

• Experience of leading and coaching teams

• Excellent communication and motivation skills

• Thorough knowledge of store processes

• Practical experience of store retail environment - minimum 2 yrs

• Hands-on approach

• Planning and prioritising skills

• Cantonese and Mandarin
