Job Description: Working within the defence sector of our Advisory business, this is a highly responsible role where you will be required to lead the development and delivery of highly complex projects and contribute to the overall growth of the Defence practice, collaboratively with clients, partners and stakeholders. Key responsibilities are:Support and Leadership of Delivery Teams as Project Principal / Director to enable their success:Definition of project outcomes, success factors, and delivery solution.Senior leadership and direction of project teams, providing support and mentoring to Project Managers and their teams.Highly proactive support into customer, anticipating their needs and communicating back to project team. "Be the voice of the customer to the project team, and the voice of the project team to the customer".Resolve project delivery problems as they occur.Ensure project teams follow appropriate project, schedule, financial, risk etc management practices.Securing new defence / DIO project workDevelopment, pursuit, and preparation of bids.Monitor and seek to anticipate pipeline of work.Support the growth of the defence practiceContribute significantly to the continuing development of customer relationships and growth of our business, identifying parallel action to align our business effectively for future work - for instance targeting new and existing relationships with FLC's.Development and maintenance of positive engagement with project customers, partners, suppliers and stakeholders.Although based from our Bristol office, you will be involved in the growth of our business across the UK, and as such will be required to travel to a variety of Mott MacDonald and client office locations.
Candidate Specification: Industry recognised project and programme management qualifications. i.e. MSP, MOP, PMI APM or demonstrable equivalent experienceSignificant experience of leading complex change and Infrastructure project.Demonstrable experience of full lifecycle programme managementExperience working with or for the MODFlexibility in work location across the MOD estate.The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated, driven and have a strong track record of delivering significant projects, demonstrating flexibility and a wide breadth of knowledge. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to ensure success, as this role will involve high-level stakeholder engagement.Also, significant experience in managing public-facing projects and programmes subject to high levels of financial (value for money) and technical scrutiny would be highly beneficial.
