REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY: Special Needs Teaching assistant

  • To start 28 October 2019
  • Interviews will be held either 16 or 23 October 2019 - we reserve the right to interview any potential candidate prior to the interview date
  • 30hrs per week - term time only (holiday pay is additional pro rata)
  • Post would suit someone looking for school based hours

We are recruiting a special needs Teaching Assistant for a primary school to work predominantly with their special needs students to ensure that their education and care is at the highest standard. This role would be ideal for someone who has worked either in a school or care setting who has a great understanding of students with learning disabilities.

Special needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
  • Experience working with mild learning difficulties, an understanding of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and learning needs would be essential
  • Will be supporting learning and the individual needs
  • For this Special needs Teaching Assistant position someone with experience who can work alongside the teacher on planning tailored lessons to suit the child's needs.
  • Building students confidence.
  • Be able to effectively manage students behaviour and understand triggers.
  • Be able to actively promote and assist safe learning.
  • You will ensure all students can thrive and fully develop their social, cognitive and emotional skills.

For this 1-1 Teaching Assistant position it is ideal if you are:
  • Qualified with a relevant Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certification and/or SEND care qualifications.
  • Must have a good knowledge and understanding of ASD, ADHD and learning disabilities.
  • Previous experience working with moderate to complex learning difficulties including Autism would be essential
  • Positive handling training (Team Teach or equivalent)
