Salary: £21,146 (£18326 pro-rated, term time only)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Our clients over 16 study programmes 'Steps for Success' is a small alternate education provision which is unique and specialist in providing a holistic programme of learning to those who require a more nurturing environment in order to reach their full potential. Working with complex and vulnerable young adults, this role requires experience and knowledge of working with this target group in an innovative, engaging and enthusiastic way.

Responsibilities of the Teacher:

To design, plan and deliver inspirational programmes of learning that engage and motivate young people to progress and achieve. To be responsible for managing and delivering diverse learning opportunities for a group of learners from initial interview and assessment through to successful completion of the course and accreditation. To teach across a range of qualification types and levels, from Entry to Level 2 as a minimum. Teachers will deliver learning opportunities that are practical in nature, develop employability and social skills and enable learners to achieve accredited qualifications as well as qualifications in English and maths. Provide their learners with learning opportunities that aspire to be outstanding and adhere to those standards within the common inspection framework.

Requirements of the Teacher:
  • PGCE/Cert in Education or L5 Diploma in Education and Training.
  • Significant experience of working with individuals with varying behaviour management needs and barriers to learning.
  • Skills in the planning and delivering programmes that meet individual learner needs within a group setting and using individual learning plans to maximise learner progress and success.
  • Experience of designing, planning, tracking and monitoring the impact on the individual of teaching, learning and assessment to meet the Ofsted standards.
  • Highly effective at managing conflict and good at maintaining high standards of classroom behaviour.
  • Highly methodical, organised with good time management skills and excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Good ICT skills, including all Microsoft packages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Committed to and highly experienced at developing positive teacher/learner relationships that support learner progress and achievement.
  • Flexible approach to their workload, enthusiastic, motivated to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Good team player and an ability to work with minimum supervision.
