Become an IT Project Manager with Capita Government Services specifically PCSE in Leeds

We are looking for an all-rounder IT Project Manager to scope-out and manage delivery of IT projects to transform the way in which PCSE serves our customers through the use of technology. By managing technical and non-technical specialists via a matrix management structure, the role will be accountable for implementing technical projects and realising the project's benefits.

You will scope-out projects, create and maintain the plan and manage delivery to successful implementation.

As well as manage the internal IT team, suppliers and customer stakeholders, ensuring that the project is successfully released. Reporting to the Business Change Director, you will be reporting progress and exceptions to the wider programme structure.

What you will do:
  • Hold accountability for defining and delivering a fixed (and agreed) scope of work with a delivery plan that is known to, and agreed with, all relevant stakeholders
  • To manage internal and external suppliers in the timely assessments of requirements, creation of technical designs, the build of solutions and review of project documents
  • To have a level of technical understanding in what is required to successfully implement changes to the IT applications, infrastructure and networking layers of the architecture
  • Establish and manage a robust business readiness and transition plan for releasing the change into business as usual running
  • Hold accountability for forecasting of resources required to complete the project and to deliver within these agreed forecasts, reporting use of resources and costs against this forecast on a regular basis

Your experience will include:
  • Proven IT Project Management experience
  • An all-rounder that has managed infrastructure, software and application projects
  • Good IT technical understanding
  • Evidence of achieving the business benefits of IT-enabled change.
  • Experience of managing technical stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing IT infrastructure and applications suppliers.
  • Matrix management of stakeholders across a range of disciplines (communications, IT, testing, data, PMO, finance)
  • Owning the governance and reporting to a client for a specific IT project or programme
  • Management of professional analytical or project staff
  • The ability to work co-operatively and supportively with others, able to lead and motivate teams working on projects.
  • Strong customer facing skills. Be comfortable and confident with clients at all levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Able to facilitate workshops with team and client stakeholders.
  • Self-starter, flexible and committed.
  • Uses initiative, takes ownership of projects and problems.
  • Able to travel to client sites; sometimes at short notice.
  • Self-development and self-motivation; working continuously and proactively to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Ideally have worked for IT Service or Software Organisations
