MI & Performance Analyst
Developing Underwriting and Management Information is among the ArgoGlobals highest priorities in 2019/2020. A new Head of Operations for EMEA, and an MI Specialist for Argo International have been appointed to enhance and develop MI throughout the company. The main purpose of this role is to assist with the large-scale transformation of MI reporting and ultimately make an impact on the financial performance of the overall Group. There is strong appetite from Senior Management for positive change, and the real possibility for the MI team to make a material and valuable impact.This role will be a key support to the newly established Underwriting Operations MI and Performance Team and will have a broad scope covering Syndicate 1200 (and associated services companies such as Singapore and Dubai) as well as ArgoGlobal's Maltese and Italian based entities.Stakeholder ManagementWorking closely with key stakeholders, including the ArgoGlobal CUO's and Managing Directors, to develop and implement reports and tools to serve the needs of management.Liaising with other Functions and Underwriting teams to ensure that reporting is accurate, consistent and valuable to relevant stakeholders.Core DeliveryIn conjunction with the Head of Operations for EMEA and MI Specialist develop forward looking / analytical underwriting MI including multi-platform open market and delegated authority business.Deliver timely and accurate management information to various audiences including ArgoGlobal Committees and Boards.Provide ad-hoc in-depth analysis for the management team, delivering new insights into business performance and improvement.Analyse monthly and quarterly results and aid strategic decision making.Understand the business priorities and initiatives and ensure the results of these can be monitored through management reporting.Data Strategy and Technological EnablementAssist with the enhancement of existing MI reports and the development of new reporting capabilities and dashboardsHelp identify and overcome data deficiencies and gaps in analytical capabilitiesPlay a key role in initiatives to improve the quality and availability of financial and operational data, working collaboratively with Finance, Underwriting Operations and stakeholders across the company.Role RequirementsDemonstrated ability to design and develop business performance reporting on financial and non-financial data, providing clear and insightful information for decision making.Demonstrated ability to manipulating large volumes of data into digestible management reportingDemonstrated high calibre financial understanding and capability, with a clear commercial awareness and high business acumen.Strong stakeholder management experience, building and strengthening relationships within the business at all levels.Curious and analytical mind-set able to connect high-level concepts through to underlying details.Excellent attention to detail and a meticulous eye for identifying inconsistencies or inaccuracies in data entry or data outputs.Demonstrable evidence of interpreting & manipulating data clearly and accurately with the ability to extract & clearly articulate key points.Track record of identifying and analysing problems, identifying & evaluating options, deploying sound decision making skills.Competencies / SkillsStrong Microsoft Excel skills with VBa experience preferableKnowledge of data visualisation software such as Power BI, Qlikview, Business Objects, Tableau or similarConfidence in dealing with large volumes of data across multiple sourcesStrong mathematical and analytical skillsAt least 2 years of General Insurance industry experienceKnowledge of the Lloyd's Market preferableExperience of Delegated Underwriting and Bordereaux analysis desirableCII qualifications preferable although not essentialWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
