Our client are a growing IT services based near Sutton Coldfield and due to expansion require an Associate Technical Consultant to join their team.

The aim of the role is to contribute to project work focused on Network and server infrastructure deployments including design and midterm contract changes & to take ownership and responsibility for escalations from all Helpdesk Analysts and proactive team members.

The role will involve the following:

- 80% spent taking ownership and responsibility for escalations. 20% of your time will be spent working alongside technical specialists, enhancing your own technical and consulting skills through further training and exposure on projects

·To develop an awareness of presales and holistic design relevant to core infrastructure including Network switches, Firewalls, Wireless devices and contribute to the design where appropriate

·To develop as a subject matter expert for the chosen network portfolio including Security, Network best practices

·Install and configure Network infrastructure and Security devices to industry best practice.

·To liaise with 3rd party vendors to resolve performance and reliability issues, including root cause fix

·To work on ad hoc infrastructure project work, running in parallel to infrastructure refresh work

·To create and manage Statements of Work for mid-contract customer changes

·To provide scheduled out of hours change support as part of planned maintenance

·To contribute to customer installations and go live events

In order to be considered for this role you need to have the following skills:

·Cisco Certification, minimum requirements meeting CCNA

·A detailed understanding of routing and switching

·A rounded background with an understanding of servers and network infrastructure

·Virtualisation exposure in areas such as VMware and Hyper-V

·Understanding of physical connectivity and cable standards

·Familiarisation with HP, Cisco, Meraki wireless equipment

·Monitoring & Management technologies (SCOM, PRTG, IPAM) + Remote Access Tools (RDP, KVM, Bomgar)

·Security Technologies & Practices - VPN, SSL, Encryption

·Firewalls Concepts (Rules, Ports, Filtering, NAT)

·Understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP

·Full understanding of networking fundamentals (IP Networking, LAN, WAN, Sub Netting, DNS, DHCP)

·Strong working practices for operating within a Data Centre/Server Room Environment

They are looking at offering a basic salary of between £28,000 - £33,000 plus an excellent benefits package.
