Software Developer (Signal Processing, Matlab, GUI)

We are an advanced engineering consultancy and NDT inspection services provider predominantly working for upstream Oil and Gas operators. We provide leading edge asset integrity and inspection solutions focussed on the delivery of innovative approaches and technologies to maximise the value of inspection to clients in a fast-paced consultancy environment.We develop advanced in-house software to control hardware (robotics and scanners) for data collection and advanced data analysis and analytics to maximise the value to our clients.

Software Developer Job Summary:

We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Software Developer to work predominantly on our data analysis software suite. Depending on the candidate and active live projects, you may also get involved in the development of our robotics projects.

The position is initially a 6-month contract, with the probability of extension.You must be eligible to work in the UK. The deadline for applications is Friday 15th November 2019.

You will be involved in continuing the development of our new data analysis software packages, as well as maintaining and further developing our existing software suite.

You should have the following:
  • Strong Matlab skills.
  • Advanced GUI development in Matlab.
  • Algorithm development.
  • Experience in the use of source control, e.g. GiT, SVN.
  • Experience in data analysis to assist understanding of how to develop efficient applications.
  • Ideally you will have object orientated programming (OOP) experience.
  • Ability to quickly pick up new programming skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop documentation and provide training and support to end users.

Other beneficial skills include
  • Signal processing skills.
  • Experience in other languages, such as Python, R, C++.
  • Knowledge of software project management tools, e.g. Redmine.
  • Experience in system and unit level testing.

For our hardware projects experience in the following would be beneficial, but is not required:
  • Use of Gazebo and RoS.
  • Electrical Engineering knowledge.
  • SLAM mapping capability in addition to path mapping using blueprints.
  • Experience with IMU, Image processing.
  • Happy to be hands on with real hardware, not just a software.

Note that some industrial experience is essential.
