My client in Didcot is looking for 2 full time and 1 part time candidates to join their team in a busy high street opticians.
The role does not require previous experience, however, previous experience within a customer facing/retail role within the last 12 months would be advantageous. Transferable retail skills would certainly help with 50% of the role.
Optical Assistants provide the first point of contact with customers and focus on customer service. Key elements of the Optical Assistant's job description include:
* exploring customer needs thoroughly and approaching customers to offer assistance
* having a good knowledge of products and treatments
* understanding visual perception and basic visual defects
* analysing prescriptions accurately and dispensing lenses accordingly
* ensuring collections are conducted in a professional manner
* working to company Customer Service Standards.

Some duties within the role are as follows...
* Welcome clients/patients into the premises
* Administering eye drops for pre-testing
* Making use of retail and sales techniques
* Assisting customers/patients on the selection of frames from a wide variety of products
* General Store tasks (clean and presentable, restocking etc.)
* Admin duties (Taking calls from the business line, booking appointments as and when required)
Standard probation for this Optical Assistant role is 3 months, after the end of the probationary period.
As an Optical Assistant, you should be presentable at all times, smartly dressed and a positive attitude toward the role and customers.
Full time:- offering 37.5 - 40 hours per week, 3/4 weekends would be required to work so local candidates may be favoured as to eliminate any public transport issues in the area
