Project Engineer - Competitive Salary - South Darenth, Kent

The Role

We are currently recruiting one junior and one more experienced Project Engineer to join our rapidly growing company. You will be mainly focused on the introduction of Brigade's core commercial vehicle safety and efficiency product range. You will need basic knowledge of the product technologies / introduction and project management, as well as a proactive approach delivering products into the market in line with Brigade's business needs and customer / supplier relations.

The role will be primarily supplier-facing, managing multiple suppliers and manufacturers in both high and low-cost countries, overcoming cultural and language barriers to deliver new product in time for market. The position also extends to supporting our customers as needed. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a fresh challenge and a fulfilling role in the automotive industry.

The key responsibilities of a Project Engineer include, but are not limited to:
  • Leading/managing/supporting product introduction throughout the product lifecycle
  • Managing relationships and liaising with suppliers
  • Creating requirements and engineering specifications
  • Taking responsibility for product verification and validation
  • Preparing detailed component technical drawings, documentation and user manuals
  • Aiding customers, sales and marketing on technical solutions and products support
  • Applying technologies and engineering methods keeping Brigade's product portfolio competitive and up to date, whilst enhancing its cost effectiveness
  • Support the Quality team and Application team in adapting current products for specific customer demands

This position will be predominantly at product level, requiring good understanding of defining and managing requirements, supporting product development, verification and validation.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Project Engineer:
  • HND in Engineering or Science (BA desirable) or alternative educational background; and three years' industry practical experience engineering or technical field
  • High level of numeracy, literacy and co-ordination, having both above average computer literacy and a good knowledge of product introduction and product life cycle
  • Knowledge of automotive technology including standards and quality controls which are key to ensuring Brigade's product quality standards are met
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, management and colleagues; 2nd language conversant in Mandarin or Cantonese desirable
  • A self-motivated, practical aptitude with methodical approach to detail, able to take full responsibility for the quality of own work
  • Strong organisation and time management skills, with the flexibility to multi-task, resourcefulness to provide technical support and the ability to work to deadlines

Having 3 years' experience in electronic engineering; knowledge of electronics, interest in modern technology, automotive or electronics industry; and knowledge of CAD development tools is highly desirable.
